Legality, licensing and payment safety
Online gambling in India is regulated unevenly. There is no single national online-casino licence, several states restrict or ban online betting outright, and most platforms serving Indian players hold offshore licences. Before you deposit in INR:
- Check the licence number in the site footer and verify it on the regulator's own register: Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), the UK Gambling Commission, Curaçao or Ontario's iGO, depending on the market. Evolution itself is licensed by the MGA (MGA/B2B/187/2010) and in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission, which is why identical Funky Time paytables appear across compliant operators.
- Look for independent testing marks: eCOGRA, iTech Labs or GLI certification of the RNG and game fairness, plus published RTP audit reports. No testing seal at all is a red flag.
- Confirm SSL/TLS encryption, meaning a valid certificate on the cashier pages, and support for two-factor authentication.
- Verify INR support end to end. Some sites accept UPI deposits but pay out only in crypto or via a different rail, which quietly costs you money on conversion.
- Check your own state's rules. Several Indian states prohibit online betting, and payment intermediaries can decline gambling-related transactions, which is one reason UPI deposits sometimes fail without explanation.
